“Cherry”
HA499871
Black and Tan Miniature Longhaired Bitch
Sire: CH Goldie’s Little Alex
Dam: Golden Ember v Taunuswald
Whelped: December 12, 1963
Breeder: Paul Tolliver
Owner: Paul Tolliver

CH Taunuswald Wee Sakura ML was Paul Tolliver’s most outstanding, and certainly most reknowned, Dachshund. She finished when it was a rarity for Miniatures to complete championships, and her points were mainly from specialties.

CH Taunuswald Wee Sakura ML winning BOS at DCC, Judge Dorothy Hardy, Handler Paul Tolliver, TP Fred Compagnon

Specialed on a limited basis, Cherry won a Specialty Best of Breed, two Specialty Best Opposite to Breeds, four Specialty Best of Varietys, and five Specialty BOS to BOVs, including DCA 1965 in Houston and DCA 1969 in Louisville. She also won 13 Best of Varietys and 14 BOS-V at all breed shows.

Cherry produced two champions:  CH Taunuswald Mikado ML and CH Taunuswald Wee Konig ML.  Mikado went on to sire CH Taunuswald Reflection ML, who propagated Sakura’s stylish look as is reflected in so many current miniature longs.

Paul Tolliver, with the occasional use of handlers, made sure Cherry was always presented at her best.  She was a departure in look from what had come before in miniature longhaireds, but her head and neck type is still apparent in the variety today.
